Funding
Research projects are expensive to conduct. Properly run research projects require paid professionals such as Nutritionists, Scientists, Veterinarians and other professionals in their respective fields. In addition, services such as laboratory analyses are required to provide the necessary data needed. Habitats, enrichment products, dietary ingredients, and daily care must be provided. Each project that the Sugar Glider Foundation, Inc. is involved will provide results upon completion and/or publication of said projects. Results will be available either in full on this website, or as links to their publications. Due to copyright laws, publications may require renting or purchasing.
All funding for these research projects are on a donation basis. Various funding efforts will be conducted to raise money. Types of fundraising will include, but are not limited to, auctions, sales, raffles (where applicable by state law), and online crowd funding.

The online glider community and sugar glider businesses together donated $10,000 for the Sugar Glider Diet Trial and Evaluaion (Phase I). This study was completed, published then presented at the 2016 Sugar Glider Convention.
Phase II of the study, the Assessment of Nutritional Status, is estimated to take approximately 2 to 2 1/2 years to complete. The cost is estimated at $34,000.00. Costs will be closely monitored and if less money is needed, the total goal will be reduced. If excess funds are raised, the balance of the funds will go toward the next phase of the nutrition study.
